This year, Groundwater Relief are taking part in the Big Give Christmas
Challenge, where any donations received in the first week of December will be doubled by match funding.
We hope to raise £6000 to develop a phone application that will allow communities to report on problems with their water supply and also collect groundwater level data. This phone application will help communities and authorities sustainably manage their water supplies.
Our aspiration is for the app to enable communities to:
- Capture groundwater level data;
- Report on water supply problems to their local provider or pump mechanic;
- View how their water levels fluctuated and develop a better understanding of their groundwater resources;
- Share the water data with water authorities and on an open source groundwater level database;
The development of a phone application normally costs over £30,000. The App developer we are working with has agreed to heavily subsidise the monitoring app development and is providing Groundwater Relief with a 75% discount. This £6000 therefore represents significant value for money.
This phone application could be used with Groundwater Relief's Pocket Dipper (or any other manual groundwater monitoring tool).
